Dubai World Central (DWC)
The DWC is a free economic trade zone, which is covering an area of 145 square kilometer fur supporting multiple activities like logistics, aviation, commercial, exhibition, humanitarian, residential and leisure-related businesses. The project has been estimated to accommodate more than 900,000 people by the completion. The Dubai World Central is having an area which is almost two times the size of Hong Kong Island. This infrastructural, and economical airport centered metropolitan subregion launched as a Government of Dubai project in 2006.
By the fulfillment of the Dubai World Central project, the Al Maktoum International Airport will be able to handle 160m passengers and 12m tonnes of cargo annually with a five runways and four terminal buildings. The development has been designed on the basis of three key factors: Dubai's geographic location, increasing importance of airports in the Middle East region, and the region's booming aviation sector.
